Walking through Times Square

It takes more than one day to get acquainted with Times Square, because it is impossible to cover all its sights even in a week. It is better to start the day with a visit to the information center (the intersection between 46th and 47th streets), which is open daily from 08:00 to 20:00. There is free internet and ticket offices where you can buy tickets for various shows and performances. Then, with a paper cup of coffee, you can take part in the mass traditional viewing of the popular TV program Good Morning America!, broadcast live every day on the huge screen of the ABC building.

On August 14, you can become part of a global flash mob: numerous couples of lovers kiss, copying the famous photograph, which depicts a kiss between a sailor and a girl on this square in 1945. See itypetravel for geostatistics of Delaware.

Madame Tussauds museum

One of the branches of the London Madame Tussauds Museum was built in New York in 2000. A 10-story building was erected especially for him, which now houses about 200 wax figures of world stars of show business and politics. Unlike the British museum, in New York almost all the figures are in the public domain, you can take pictures with them, and in one of the halls the actors hid among the figures – and at the most unexpected moment they “come to life”! In addition, the ticket price includes admission to the 4D short film hall, and a simulation game in which you can feel like a ghost hunter.

Once one of the visitors tore off the head of the wax Hitler, and now the figure of the Fuhrer is the only exhibit in the museum, standing behind the glass.

A ticket costs from 32 to 60 USD, you can save money when buying online, more details on the museum website (in English). The Wax Museum is open daily from Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 20:00, and on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 to 22:00. Address: New York, Times Square, West 42nd Street, 234, between 7th and 8th avenues.

Right on Times Square, you can register a marriage using the services of a Naked Cowboy with a guitar. This unusual street musician has long become a symbol of New York and is popular among locals and tourists. By the way, he has the most official license to perform a wedding ceremony.

New Years in Times Square

New Year’s Eve can be a real shock for you, when a million residents of the city (and a billion TV viewers) watch a huge luminous ball 3.5 m in diameter descend down the spire on the New York Times skyscraper for a minute. The ball reaches the roof at exactly 00:00, marking the beginning of the new year.

The tradition of lowering the balloon on a skyscraper originated in 1907.
